Here it is! Finally! My very own Birdie Sling (pattern by Amy Butler)! I absolutely love it! I had borrowed the pattern from Barb Knox 3 months ago, but Jenn's fun pictures inspired me to get my rear in gear and make my own. The birdie fabric is not in honor of the title of the bag....I just absolutely adore the fabric. It is from the Moda Urban Chiks Blossom collection. I had already made a pair of pj pants using this fabric; however, there aren't too many people who get a glimpse of those! So, I thought it would be fun to have a bag made of it for spring!
Cute! I love mine. I'll have to post pics of my new self designed billfold/clutch that matches. I want to make it a second time and change some things. You're right...this bag making could be totally addicting...though I kinda like the self-designing part :) Imagine that...me not follow a pattern? Never :)
ReplyDeleteSecrets come out! I did line the lining w/ interacing but not the exterior layer. I also only added one small pocket that I stitched into two smaller pockets. I also left the opening at the top of the bag instead of the inside for turning it around. It was easier for me. My final little secret is that I ALWAYS use foamcore in the bottom of my bags. I cover it w/ coordinating fabric and it adds stability w/out extra weight! No more bags for me for now - I have a bday present to finish and a roman shade yet to sew! Don't you just love to sew, though!
ReplyDeleteThat is so CUTE! My sisters and I were just talking about how we all desperately need new purses...maybe I'll shock the world (ok, my family) and try to sew my own!
ReplyDeleteHave I ever mentioned that you're inspiring? You are.
